A new version of Radio Alarm Clock to annoy you each morning
I just finished working on the 0.10 release of my project Radio Alarm Clock. It's getting pretty close to finished (if a software project could ever be considered complete), and at this point there are only three things remaining before I'll bring it up to the big 1.0 version number:
- Packaging for Linux and OSX. At this point, any platform which can run Mono 2.0 can run Radio Alarm Clock, no sweat. However, I haven't gotten around to writing a script that packs up the project for either platform.
- Radio plugins for other platforms. The problem with running Radio Alarm Clock on anything but Windows right now is that while it's still a good alarm clock, the radio functionality just isn't there. If I could get my hands on some .NET interop assemblies for various media platforms for non-Windows systems (say, GStreamer sounds good) then I can write up the radios.
- Final spit and polish. While the 0.10 release has somewhat tidied up the Options dialog (splitting alarm and radio preferences into separate tabs) the UI still requires quite a bit of work in order to improve usability. Better documentation is also a must.
Hopefully these issues can be cleared up soon. It doesn't usually take me too much time to add new things to Radio Alarm Clock (in fact, most of the 0.10 development only took places in the last 36 hours). I'll probably whip up some alternate installers for the 0.11 release. In the meantime, I'm attaching a zip file for anyone who wants to try Radio Alarm Clock on a non-Windows platform (or simply wants to avoid Windows Installer, although you might have to muck with the registry).
And if anyone can point me to an up-to-date, working download for GStreamer# (or other .NET interop assemblies for media platforms), give me a shout!
UPDATE 05:35-0500: Found some bugs in 0.10, including one that causes the program to crash on startup. Oops. 0.10.1 is now up, and links to 0.10 have been changed.
