rants
If you're not showing up in Twitter Search, that means Twitter thinks you suck
Or at least that's how it appears to me, now two weeks without being indexed, with this recent update to a Twitter Support report regarding people missing from People Search and regular Twitter Search:
MG Siegler, you owe the hungry an apology
I’m pissed off right now. MG Siegler, currently a writer over at well-known Web2.0 news site TechCrunch, has decided to use people who rely on food assistance as ammunition for a poorly researched and certainly misguided attack on Microsoft. And as someone who has had to rely on the services of food banks in the past just to have enough to eat, I am personally insulted by the gall and brazenness of MG’s attack.
Do any of us really know what we're doing?

Who here actually has a real clue about what they're doing in social media? I'm not talking about that ado from months ago about people claiming to be social media experts when they were no such thing. I'm talking about us folk who are starting social media ventures, the people who fund us, etc. Who knows where this crazy ride is leading us?
Real-time: Web 2.0 for headache-inducing

FriendFeed 2.0 came out in beta today, the social aggregator showing off a number of changes to its service. It's a lot nicer than the classic FriendFeed, but I'm not here to talk about what's new and improved; half the blogs out there have already covered that ground. Instead, I'm going to complain about the move to real-time.
Facebook's changing their design again, and shamelessly cloning FriendFeed
Facebook is bringing out some major changes to their service in the next week. One of the most visible changes will be its new website design, despite only having the current one for about nine months. And with this new design, their ripping-off of lifestream aggregator FriendFeed seems to be complete.
The horrible state of mobile communications in Canada
Something really cool fell into my lap on Friday. After dealing with a lame old phone that couldn't hold a charge for more than seven minutes of talking, I was able to replace it with a lovely HTC Touch, already upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1. It's truly a lovely phone, and using it is ever so enjoyable.
I wish I could say the same about my service provider, Telus, but I can't.
Vista's Explorer brings me one step closer to death
Normally I love Windows Vista. Some of my more Linux-loving friends have gone as far as to call me a Microsoft apologist. Whatever. Just so you know, though, Vista isn't all sunshine and lollipops. In fact, Vista's version of Explorer just tried to kill me.
The weekend, for Chris
For Saturday and Sunday, I am suspending political coverage of the coalition situation in Canada, due to threats to my power from a coalition of projects needing updates, events I am attending, and housework that I must complete. On Monday coverage will resume, and the first order of business will be telling everyone just what kind of evil kitten-eating cowboy Stephen Harper really is.
…
Attention, anti-coalition people!
I have one simple thing to say: Learn how the Westminster system of government works. This is a parliamentary democracy, not direct democracy.
Hey, Americans: In Canada, federal and provincial governments have different portfolios too
I get really annoyed when I see articles like this one on TechCrunch, confusing provincial and federal governments, when the author even bothers to make a difference. Even worse is when research for such articles are so half-baked as to ignore the fact that there's more to the story than what's being reported.
